Bio

Kay Graves is an Assistant Professor in the department of Mathematics and Computer Science.  She has taught at Fontbonne University for the past 17 years.  Kay received her undergraduate degree from Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas, where she played basketball for the Ravens.

Kay took on the role as Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) in 2010 and has made it a point to be visible to the student-athletes by attending sporting events as well as talking about her role as FAR in her individual academic classes.  Kay serves as a liaison for student-athletes and their families; talking to the athletic coaches and staff and/or the academic departments or faculty about specific concerns that student-athletes may have.

Kay serves on several committees that monitor all students’ academic progress.  When concerns arise regarding students that are athletes, she brings these concerns directly to the student or to the Athletic Department, in hopes of helping the student-athlete address these concerns and become successful academically (a similar process is adhered to for non-athletes as well.)  Kay is an active member of the SLIAC Administrative Council and regularly attends the National Faculty Athletic Representative Association meetings.
