ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Fontbonne University head men's volleyball coach Jimmy Stika is pleased to announce the signings of Ryan Lively, Alexander Gantt, Joseph Huster, and Andrew Randolph for the 2021 season.
Lively, an outside hitter out of St. Louis, Mo., joins the Griffins after transferring in from NCAA Division I Purdue Fort-Wayne University.
Prior to his D1 stint, Lively graduated from Mehlville High School where he was a 2019 First Team All-Metro, captain of the 2019 state finalist team at Mehlville, team leader in kills and aces, along with played in open division at Boys Junior National Championships with High Performance St. Louis 18 Royal.
Coach Stika on Lively:
"We're incredibly excited about Ryan joining us here at Fontbonne. His size, athleticism, and natural talent will make him an impact player for us immediately, and I can see him being one of the best pin hitters in the country going forward. He will be fun to watch and a crucial part of our program over the next few years."
Gantt, an Aledo, Texas, native, was a club team captain for three years and played at the 2019 BJNC with Club Texas 18-1.
Coach Stika on Gantt:
"Alex is one of the most naturally talented setters I've seen coming out of the 2020 class. He's relatively new to the position but has shown the potential to become a big-time player at the NCAA level. We're excited to see him progress even further after training with the high caliber players we have here at Fontbonne."
Huster, a St. Louis, Mo., native, and Lutheran South graduate was a three-year varsity starter, along with being named to the 2019 All-District and All-State Team. He also played in the 2019 Boys Junior National Champions with MOVA 18 Gold.
Coach Stika on Huster:
"Joseph checks all of the boxes for what we want in a middle. His size and overall athleticism will make him a dominant player in the front row, and his ability to run slides fits perfectly into our offensive system. We're looking forward to getting him into our gym and watching him develop into one of the best middles in the MCVL."
Randolph, a Lindbergh High School graduate, led the Flyers in kills and service receptions. He played at the 2019 BJNC with High Performance St. Louis 17 Orange.
Coach Stika on Randolph:
"Andrew is a versatile player that comes to us from a very well-respected club and high school program. His experience playing at a high level in both the front and back row will be a huge asset for our team going forward, and we're looking forward to watching his development as he begins training with us."
