Auburndale, Fla. - Fontbonne baseball recorded their second 10-run rule win in as many days after defeating Wheaton College (Ill.) 14-3 in seven innings. The Griffins are now 4-2 on the year and 4-0 over spring break.
Leadoff batter Ethan Boyer got on base to start Fontbonne's 15-hit game. Fontbonne led 7-0 after three and 9-1 after five innings. Fontbonne lit up Wheaton pitching in the sixth, scoring five runs for a 14-1 lead. Wheaton tried to keep the scheduled nine-innings in play, scoring one run in the sixth and seventh innings, but the Griffin defense kept the Thunder at bay.
Miguel Villegas went 4-4 at the plate with one walk, two RBI's and two runs scored. Tanner Carter hit 2-3 with three runs scores, two walks and one RBI while Boyer recorded three RBI's on three hits and crossed the plate twice. Four Griffins hit doubles in the game. Getting his first start was freshman Daniel Brice Jr. who threw for six innings.
