Four Griffin baseball players earn 2015 postseason accolades
St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2015 Baseball All-Conference selections. This year four Griffins earned post-season accolades.
Junior first baseman Ben Greenway achieved First Team All-Conference honors. In conference-only statistics, Greenway led the SLIAC in batting average (.513), hits (39), doubles (13) and on-base percentage (.558). Greenway was at the top of the leaderboard in overall statistics in several categories including a .462 overall average, 60 overall hits, and on-base percentage (.520). He was recently awarded the Red Schoendienst Award from Fontbonne Athletics, the highest male award based on statistics for the 2014-15 school year.
Junior pitcher Vince Santarsiero earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Overall, Santarsiero was ranked fourth among SLIAC pitchers with a 2.18 ERA. He went 3-1 in conference with two saves, including one complete game. He struck out 37 SLIAC opponents in 27.2 innings, averaged 12.04 strikeouts per game. Santarsiero allowed just nine earned runs cross the plate for a 2.93 SLIAC ERA.
Sophomore shortstop Ethan Boyer was selected to the Third Team All-Conference. Boyer ended the season on an 11-game hitting streak. He finished with a .347 conference batting average. He recorded 35 put outs and assisted 39 times.
And finally, Miguel Villegas represented the Griffins on the All-Sportsmanship team. Villegas recorded 12 hits on the year in 19 games and walked nine times.
Fontbonne ended their season 18-20 overall and 13-9 in conference play.
