Griffins Drop Its Final Two Games Against Greenville

In game one, the Panthers got a solid outing out of hurler Bryce Pearce as he tossed a complete game shutout and struck out four. Offensively, Jesse Getz and Adam Lamb had the RBI.
Fontbonne, meanwhile, got its hits off the bats of Michael Golich, Gus Purschke, Jackson Penrod, Matt Tossick and Deiydon Rushing. On the bump, Luke Summers allowed four runs (zero earned) in his 5.2 innings of work and struck out seven.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth, the Panthers plated two in the second, capped off by Getz's RBI ground out giving them the 3-0 lead.
Greenville added another run in the sixth, but the Griffins threatened in the seventh. The team had the bases loaded with two outs, however, Austin Rexroad came on in relief and retired the final Griffin hitter for the save.

In game two, the Griffins offense scattered 14 hits and were led by Ryan Schocker 4-for-4 two RBI performance. Matt Tossick went 3-for-5 with an RBI and finished the season reaching safely in his last 12. Gus Purschke also went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
On the mound, Brett Lange fell to 4-2 on the season after allowing five earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched.
Greenville totaled 13 hits of its own as Pearce and Sam Hodges had three each. Jonah Moore improved to 3-4 on the season after allowing three runs in 5.0 innings and sat down six.
The Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the first, though the Griffins responded in the bottom half. Golich led off with a single. Two batters later, the senior scored on Penrod's double to center to make it 3-1.
In the third, the Greenville offense stayed hot. They plated three more runs, highlighted by Andrew Torbeck's three RBI double and that extended its lead out to 7-1. Tossick got one of those runs back in the bottom of the third on his RBI single.
In the fifth, a double from Schocker and a Tossick single had the Griffins in business. The duo moved up a base on a passed ball, then Schocker scored on Nick Kenny's single to right to narrow the deficit down to 7-3.
However, the Panthers scored three more in the sixth and they were able to fend off Fontbonne for the five-run win.
