Fontbonne Baseball Stays Unbeaten In Conference Play With Dominating Sweep Over Eureka
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University baseball team stayed unbeaten in conference play after taking the final three games from Eureka on Sunday.

How It Happened
Prior to the postponement yesterday, the Griffins led 11-0 after three innings of play highlighted by Thomas Purschke's grand slam in the second inning.
The bats picked up right where they left off with Colby Shivers extending the lead out to 13-0 in the fourth on a two RBI triple to right. In the fifth, Ty Kueper hit a two-run shot, his first on the year, while on the ensuing pitch Purschke went yard once more to right.
Ryan Mills added an RBI in the sixth and it was all Fontbonne winning 17-1 in game two.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Nick Glaser got the win allowing no runs on four hits in 5.0 innings of work.
- Purschke went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a career-high five RBI.
- Ty Kueper went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI.
- Colby Shivers had a season-high three hits, three runs scored, and tied his season-high with three RBI.
- Braeden Dobbs went 3-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI.
- Daniel Youngblood and Lane Smith added two hits each.

How It Happened
The Red Devils put the Griffins in the hole early in the first scoring six runs on three hits. The lead was very short lived with Fontbonne scoring eight runs on three hits capped off by Youngblood's bases clearing double to right to give them the 8-6 advantage.
In the second, Reese Harris and Ty Kueper reached base on back-to-back walks. Three batters later, the Griffins led 10-6 with Kameron Brooks hitting a double to right plating the duo.
The Griffins added two more insurance runs in the sixth off the bat of Shivers for the 12-6 final.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Tyson Wilson improved to 2-0 after shutting down Eureka offense in 4.0 innings of work.
- Kameron Brooks led at the plate going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a career-high four RBI.
- The 1-2 hitters in Shivers and Youngblood combined to go 3-for-7 with three runs scored and six RBI.

How It Happened
It was another bang of a start for Fontbonne in the first scoring seven runs on seven hits. Youngblood got things started with a 2-run shot to give Fontbonne the early lead.
Tyler Chambliss and Purschke each recorded RBI singles to extend the lead out to 4-0. After an error allowed another run to score, the Griffins got an RBI double from Shivers and Youngblood tacked on an RBI single to make it 7-0.
In the third, the Griffins made it a 10-0 outing with Ty Kueper belting his second on the season, this one a 3-run shot, to give Fontbonne the comfortable advantage.
The team added three more runs in the fifth with Ty Kueper hitting a two RBI triple and Purschke adding an RBI sacrifice-fly to give Fontbonne the 13-2 win.

- Derek Morganthaler improved to 3-1 on the season allowing no runs on six hits and striking out a season-high six.
- Ty Kueper went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a career-high five RBI.
- Youngblood extended his hitting streak out to 10 and tallied RBI 28,29, and 30 on the season going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI.
- Purschke went 1-for-3 with one run scored and two RBI.
- Shivers has reached safely in his last five going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
- Chambliss added two hits and an RBI.
- Lane Smith reached base twice on walks and had one RBI.
