Game Breakdown
The outing started well for Fontbonne with Colby Shivers leading off with a single and he scored on Daniel Youngblood's double to center.
After a single from Braeden Dobbs, the Griffins made it 3-0 with Ty Kueper clearing the bases with a single to center. However, in the bottom half of the first the Thunder plated three runs on three hits and were helped out by two Fontbonne errors.
Fontbonne grabbed the lead in the second with Carter Lee belting his second homer on the season over the centerfield wall. However, the Thunder took the advantage right back in the bottom half scoring two runs on two hits with Brenden Warner's double giving them the 5-4 lead.
From there, the Thunder scored one in the fourth and another in the eighth taking a 7-4 lead. Fontbonne threatened in the ninth with Ty Kueper leading off with a double and he was able to touch home on Thomas Purschke's RBI double.
However, Noah Brettin was able to record the final out securing the two-run victory for Trine.
