Bio

Coach Good's first season as head baseball coach at Fontbonne University was in 2007. In his first four years, Good led Fontbonne to three 20+ win seasons. In just his third year (2009), the team won the SLIAC tournament and advanced to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time since 2003.

In the last three seasons, Coach Good has guided the Griffins to three 20-plus win seasons. On March 19th, Coach Good picked up his 300^th career win. In the last two seasons, he’s had 16 players earn All-Conference selections, including Nick Glaser winning SLIAC Pitcher of the Year in 2021-22.

During the 2018 season, the Griffins had six players earn SLIAC All-Conference honors, including Luke Summers being named SLIAC Co-Pitcher of the Year. Michael Golich and Summers went on to be named onto the 2018 All-Central Region Team. 

Right before the 2016-17 school year, would-be right-handed senior pitcher Vinny Santarsiero accepted a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. At the end of the 2017 season the Griffins produced a program-high eight all-conference awards, two ABCA All-Region honorees and three D3Baseball.com All-Central Region accolades. Fontbonne finished the year ranked seventh among NCAA Division III institutions with a .345 team batting average.

During the 2016 campaign the Griffins broke the team record for most strikeouts in a season (309), producing the program's fifth lowest earned run averaged. Freshman Austin Earnest threw 63 K's and was named SLIAC Newcomer of the Year while junior Vinnie Santarsiero threw 66 K's. Two days before school was to begin for the 2016-17 school year, Santarsiero took up an offer to become part of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. More on that story can be found here. Four Griffins have thrown no-hitters in Coach Good's time at Fontbonne. The Griffins went to the SLIAC Tournament from 2009-2014 and Coach Good has produced four All-Region players at the helm.

Coach Good came to Fontbonne after four years as the Head Assistant Coach at fellow SLIAC member Webster University. During Coach Good’s four years at Webster, he helped the program make it to a SLIAC Championship and two NCAA Regional Tournament appearances. During his time at Webster,

Coach Good graduated with a B.A. in Education and a M.A. in business. As a baseball player at Webster, Coach Good holds five records for various pitching categories.

Ryan is a native of the St. Louis area as he attended Hillsboro Senior High School. Coach Good resides in Jefferson County with his wife, Tara, and their two sons, Brayden and Easton.
