Bio

Laura Martin enters her second season as Head Dance Coach. 

During her first season at the helm, the team placed Second in DIII Hip-Hop and Fifth in DIII Pom at the College Classic national Championship. Prior to taking the head coach position, she was the Graduate Assistant of the Dance Team at Fontbonne.

Coach Martin has been dancing for 19 years with a diverse background. She danced at a studio for 8 years. Being trained in ballet, tap, jazz, Irish hard shoe, Irish soft shoe, hip hop, and lyrical. Coach Martin then became a member of her high school dance team at South Hamilton. Obtaining five state titles in pom, kick, and military. She also was given the opportunity to dance in the 2014 Capital One Bowl with musical guest Hunter Hayes. Laura was also a member of the 2013 and 2014 All Iowa Honor Squads. She began her collegiate dance career at Iowa Central Community College for 2 years. She was able to compete at ISDTA and obtained four state titles in her time there.

She was also able to compete at NDA National Dance Team Competition in Daytona Beach Florida. She then transferred to St. Cloud State University and was a member of the Husky dance team for one year.  She was able to compete in UDA National Dance Team Competition in Orlando Florida. Laura then transferred to the University of Northern Iowa and was a member of the dance team for one year.

She enjoyed representing her school at the ISDTA state competition and the at UDA National Dance Team Competition in Orlando Florida. Laura also worked teaching at Express Dance and Fitness studio in Waverly, Iowa.

Coach Martin has also earned her AA degree and BA in Early Childhood Education and is her Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Special Education.
