St. Louis- Fontbonne University men's basketball fell to Central College of Iowa this afternoon 66-80. Central is now 2-0 on the season so far.
Fontbonne sophomore Greg Gentry scored 21 points to lead the Griffin offense. Freshman Jared Greenlee led the Griffins with 13 rebounds (8 defensive). Freshman Blake Welch added 14 points for the Griffins. Gentry and Welch each had landed three shots from behind the arc. Greenlee also scored 10 points.
Central's biggest lead was 15 points in the first half, but the Griffins pulled to within four points with nine minutes remaining in the game thanks to Welch's shot from downtown. Central would go on to control the offense the rest of the game.
Fontbonne heads acrosse the street to play at Washington University Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.
