St. Louis- Fontbonne men's basketball falls to 3-8 overall (1-1 SLIAC) after the Westminster College Blue Jays (9-2 overall; 2-0 SLIAC) defeated the Griffins 65-55.
With the only 1st half Blue Jay lead of 5-2, the Griffins would finish the half leading by two (24-22), but Westminster came out strong putting up a 10-0 run to regain control of the ball game with 17 minutes to go (32-24). Westminster's largest lead of the night was 13 points which came in the 2nd half with 7:37 remaining.
On the night, Fontbonne's Jared Greenlee had a double-double night once again with 15 rebounds and 11 points. Sophomore Greg Gentry recorded 13 points and 4 assists off the bench. Blue Jay Taylor Allen reeled in 13 rebounds (8 defensive) while teammates Verdis Lee (14 pts) and Joe Jones (12 pts) contributed on the offensive attack to edge Westminster with the win.
Fontbonne returns to Lee McKinney Court Tuesday, January 8th to take on the Eureka College Red Devils at 8pm.
