Men's Basketball Receives Taste of Victory Once Again
St. Louis- Fontbonne University men's basketball finally saw their six-game losing streak end this past Saturday, with a 76-68 road win over Eureka College.The Griffins are 2-3 in conference play as Eureka slips to 1-4.
Five missed shots and two Griffin turnovers allowed Eureka to take 7-0 lead. Fontbonne answered with two treys and a layup for eight unanswered points and their first lead of the game. Fontbonne held the lead until about the 3:12 mark. Eureka scored three three-pointers and a layup before ending the half with a 35-31 lead.
Fontbonne sparked an 11-0 run during the beginning of the second half to lead 47-39. Darius Rucker scored the final six points during the run. Back and forth scoring allowed the Griffins to hold onto the lead for the rest of the game.
Richard Dorhauer career-high 21 points, connecting on 50% of shots behind the arc, totaling three, going 4-4 at the line, and finishing a total of seven of 12 tries from the field. Jared Greenlee narrowly missed a double-double, scoring 15 points and bringing down nine rebounds. Bryan DeGeare finished with 15 points off the bench, also shooting 3-6 from three-point range, all in the first half. Rucker finished with 11 points.
For Eureka, Sam James totaled 18 points, Connor Lincoln ended with 16 points, and Josh Fenoglia grabbed 12 rebounds and 11 points.
The Griffins travel to Westminster College this Tuesday for an 8pm tipoff. Live video is available.
