Five Griffins Score in Double-Digits in 76-51 Win Over Tigers
St. Louis- Men's basketball jumped out early and never looked back, defeating the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers 76-51 in this afternoon's matchup.
Fontbonne's 8-0 run out of the gate, didn't settle well with Tiger Head Coach Todd Lorensen. Subbing all starters three minutes into the game, the Griffins scored their final bucket (10-0) before Ramon Taylor found the net at 16:37. Fontbonne scored another 10 unanswered points to lead 20-4 with 12:51 remaining in the first half, giving the Griffins a solid 38-23 lead at the half.
Out of the locker room, Fontbonne pressed, capitalizing on multiple Tiger turnovers. Fontbonne held on during the second half outscoring Iowa Wesleyan 38-28.
Jared Greenlee narrowly missed a double-double, scoring the game-high 14 points and bringing in 9 boards. Greenlee only missed one shot attempt (7-8) on the day. Darius Rucker scored 10 of his 11 points in the first half while Orkan Bakis scored all 12 of his during the second half. Rucker connected on five of his six attempts. Byran DeGeare also scored 12 points, with three trey's on six attempts.
Taylor finished with the Tiger-high 10 points.
Fontbonne travels to Principia on Tuesday for an 8pm matchup. The Griffins will then host Eureka College on Saturday, February 1st at 3pm.
