St. Louis- Fontbonne men's basketball captured another win last night against Principia College, edging them closer to .500 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Griffins' conference record is now 7-8.
After getting off to a rocky start, the Griffins finally posted the first points on the scoreboard (18:43) and would hold the lead fore the entire game. Fontbonne posted a 16-4 run in the last 10 minutes of the first half and led 37-19 at halftime.
The Griffins continued to chip away during the second half, gaining their largest lead of the game at 25 points. The Griffins posted 32 points in the paint on their way to the win.
Richard Dorhauer's 17 points led Fontbonne along with forward Jared Greenlee (14). Bryan DeGeare, Darius Rucker and Orkan Bakis each contributed with 11 points. Greenlee and DeGeare grabbed eight rebounds each and DeGeare added a dunk and alley-oop, keeping fans enthralled.
Principia's Larry Patterson scored 18 points for the game-high.
Fontbonne travels to Iowa Wesleyan Thursday night and returns home Saturday for a 3pm contest against MacMurray.
