Ettinger Leads Griffins past Iowa Wesleyan
St. Louis- Fontbonne men's basketball took Iowa Wesleyan last night 88-71. The Griffins take their conference record up to .500, sitting at 7-7 on the season among SLIAC opponents.
Up 36-33 at the half, Fontbonne allowed Iowa Wesleyan to score the first four points of the half, taking a 37-36 lead. The Griffins answered, scoring nine unanswered, eventually going on a 12-2 run, leading 48-39. Iowa Wesleyan pulled within one point at the 10:30 mark, but the Griffins chipped away, sealing the victory.
Freshman Kody Ettinger led Fontbonne with 25 points making nine of 13 shot attempts and sinking all six free-throws. The Griffins, who were just four for 21 from the three-point line, also looked to Jared Greenlee down low. Greenlee connected on nine of 12 attempts, totaling 21 points and knocking down 10 rebounds for the only double-double of the game. Ettinger grabbed seven rebounds and five steals during the game as well. Richard Dorhauer contributed for the Griffins with 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
Chris Martin made five of nine three-point attempts, leading up to his total 15 points on the night for Iowa Wesleyan. Duane Lee finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.
Fontbonne hosts MacMurray this Saturday at 3pm and will play their final game of the 2013-2014 season at home on Tuesday against Webster.
