Basketball secures second conference win in as many games
Eureka, Ill. - The Fontbonne University men's basketball team is off to a 2-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference start after defeating Eureka College tonight 76-68.
Fontbonne jumped out to an 8-2 lead before exploding to a 30-16 advantage with 3:37 left in the first half. Fontbonne went into the locker room ahead 36-25 and held onto the lead for the entire second half.
For Fontbonne, Ben Kissing and Jared Greenlee each scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and one block. Kissing went 4-4 in the first half and a perfect 4-4 at the free throw line throughout the game. Overall Kissing was 7-11 on the night with two steals and Greenlee 7-12. Garrett McDowell went 2-3 from long range, totaling 13 points on the night.The Griffins finished shooting 50% from the field overall.
Eureka's Sam James scored a game-high 20 points.
The Griffins travel to Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. for a tough 7pm matchup tomorrow night, December 6th. The Vikings are currently ranked No. 1 according to D3Hoops.
