Men's Basketball Falls In Its Home Opener Against Baptist Bible

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's basketball team trailed by just three at the half, but the Griffins struggled from the floor in the second half allowing Baptist Bible to go on for the 91-73 win.
Fontbonne opened with a 9-6 lead on Brent Wagner's layup with 17:36 remaining. Baptist Bible regained the advantage and stretched it out to 30-22 with 10:33 left on Tre Minton's 3-pointer.
The Patriots continued to hold its lead, but Fontbonne trimmed the deficit to 40-37 with just over three minutes remaining on Jaden Betton's layup.
Nick Coble hit a 3-pointer with 26.0 seconds left, however, the Griffins came down the court and answered on Peyton Blair's 3-pointer putting Fontbonne down 45-42 at the break.
Fontbonne shot 45.0 percent from the floor in the first led by Wagner with 11 points. Blair had eight points in eight minutes.
At the 18:09 mark, the Griffins trailed 48-46 on Jaden Betton's jumper. The Patriots, though went on a 11-1 run over the next three minutes.
From there, the Patriots held onto its double-digit lead the rest of the way securing the 18-point win.
