Men's Basketball Falls Late Against Rose-Hulman

ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The Fontbonne University men's basketball team fell short in its comeback attempt against Rose-Hulman.
In the first half, the Griffins opened with a 7-0 lead just three minutes in on Will Suellentrop's layup. Later, with 9:35 remaining the Griffins led 16-8 on Ethan Chatrand's 3-point play.
Fontbonne continued to hold its lead up until the 2:31 mark when Bradley Harden connected on a 3-pointer giving the Fightin' Engineers a 24-22 advantage.
Fontbonne tied it at 27-27 with 1:40 left on Caden Clark's jumper, but the Fightin' Engineers answered with a 3-pointer from Harden again allowing them to take a 30-29 advantage into the break.
The Griffins shot 42.9 percent from the floor in the first with Elijah Rice leading with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.
In the second half, the Griffins trailed 42-37 at the 15:32 mark but rattled off a 6-0 run with consecutive buckets from Adam Painter giving them a 43-42 lead.
Rose-Hulman went on to regain the lead, however, the Griffins were right there down 54-53 on Rice's made jumper with just over 8:30 left in regulation.
The Fightin' Engineers, though closed out the game on a 15-5 run hanging on for the nine-point win.
