Griffins' golfers prep for SLIAC Tournament
April 17, 2012 - The Fontbonne University men's golf tournament
fared well in a pair of tournaments over the weekend taking a fifth
place finish at the Weist Foundation Classic and a sixth place
finish at the McNaughton Memorial Invitational.
On Friday, the Griffins shot a 323 to put them in fifth
place at the Weist Foundation Classic in Decatur, Illinois.
Junior Nolan Zoellner fired a 78 which put him in 11th place
overall in the tournament. Just one shot behind at 79 was senior
Charlie Martin in 12th place. Rounding out the scoring for
Fontbonne was Dave Withers at 82 and freshman Kory Carter with
a 84.
On Monday, Fontbonne fired a 325 in the McNaughton Memorial
Invitational in Jacksonville, Illinois. Martin and Bryson Potts
tied for the Griffins top score both shooting a 79 to put
them in 15th place in the tournament. Withers totaled a
83 while Carter and sophomore Josh Schulz
carded a 84.
Fontbonne next tournament will be next week when they place in the
St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament at
Forest Park Golf Club.
