Betz finishes seventh at SLIAC Tournament; earns All-Conference honors
Eureka, Mo. - Fontbonne University men's golf endured blustery wind conditions in their final rounds of golf this season. The Griffins traveled out to Aberdeen Golf Course Monday and Tuesday to compete in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship.
Fontbonne's fifth player, Michael Kanaan suffered an injury Monday, resting Fontbonne's two-day total on the shoulders of the remaining four Griffins. Fontbonne finished in fourth place with a score of 974. Spalding University was crowned champions with their 916 finish.
Senior Zane Betz bested his teammates, finishing seventh to earn Second Team All-Conference honors as well as being named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Betz shot 78 in rounds one and three and an 80 in his second round for a total score of 236.
The next Griffin in line was fellow senior Kory Carter. Carter finished 11th with rounds of 82, 81 and 78. Brian Easton tied for a 16th finish with 86-79-84 scores and rounding out the Griffin four was Zach Goers. Goers had a rough second round total of 91 with first and third scores of 81 adn 82 respectively.
