The Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team set a school record last night for most goals in a game defeating DePauw University 25-4. The Griffins improved to 3-1 while DePauw dropped to 0-2.
Fontbonne broke the old school record of 20 goals in a game set on March 22, 2008 against Hendrix College. Griffin senior Peter Travis also set a school record for most goals in a game by tallying seven to go along with his three assists. Travis scored the games first four goals as the Griffins jumped out to a 4-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game.
In all, 10 Griffins recorded at least one goal and Fontbonne scored at least four goals in each of the four quarters. Senior Colin Benecke recorded four goals and five assists, while junior Thomas Carroll tallied three goals.
After dropping their first game, Fontbonne has now won three games in a row and is undefeated at home. The Griffins will hit the road this weekend playing at Lindenwood University on Saturday at 2 pm.
