Five Griffins earn MLC honors

Five Fontbonne University men's lacrosse players were recently named to various all-conference teams of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference (MLC).

Senior defender Mike Liebrich was named to the MLC All-Conference Second Team. Liebrich led the Griffins in ground balls (51) and caused turnovers (36). Liebrich has been a four-year starter for the Griffins.

Seniors Peter Travis, Colin Benecke, Chad Meurer and freshman Brian Furrow were named to the MLC Honorable Mention All-Conference Team. Travis led the team in goals (35) and finished second on the team in points (51). Benecke led the team in points (53) and assists (27). In the cage, Meurer earned a team-high seven wins while recording 201 saves with a .561 save percentage. As a freshman, Furrow finished second on the team in goals (28) and third in points (33).

Fontbonne finished the season with a 8-8 overall record and a 4-6 MLC record.
