St. Louis- Fontbonne University men's lacrosse opened their 2014 season on Saturday in Mississippi taking on Millsaps College.
Trailing 11-0 in the second quarter, four different Griffins scored the next four goals leading into the third quarter. Down 11-4, Millsaps would score seven straight before Brendan Friss netted his second goal to end the game.
Junior Joey Mirth went 11-23 on faceoff attempts with seven groundballs, one goal and one assist. Senior Tommy Carroll saved 17 in his attempt to keep the Griffins in the game. Friss also tallied an assist in his college debut. Kyle Dahlin picked up seven groundballs. Also scoring were Ryan Cole and Nick Athmann.
Ryan McKay scored six goals for the Majors with Jack Houtz picking up 12 groundballs. Riley McLean got the save getting in front of 12 shots.
Fontbonne hosts Rockhurst University tomorrow evening (Tuesday) at 6pm.
