St. Louis- Fontbonne men's lacrosse took their second loss in a row, falling to Hendrix College 18-3. The Griffins are now 1-4 on the season.
Hendrix jumped out scoring the first six goals before Brandon Backus scored on an assist from Brendan Friss. Two more Warrior goals would end the first quarter in favor of Hendrix 8-1.
Second half play allowed only two goals to be scored, both by Hendrix, for a 10-1 halftime score.
Nick Athmann scored the only goal for Fontbonne during the third quarter while Hendrix netted another three. Warrior Will Ross was ejected from the game after emitting a dangerous hit to the head on Athmann with six minutes left in the third quarter. Michael Jennings managed to slip the ball past Hendrix goalkeeper Christian Wheeler during the fourth quarter.
Hendrix dominated the faceoff, winning 20 of 23 attempts. Griffin senior Tommy Carroll recorded 19 saves.
Fontbonne is scheduled to host Carthage College for their first Midwest Lacrosse Conference match on Saturday, March 9 at 2:30pm.
