St. Louis- Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team's season came to an end Saturday, as they fell to Benedictine University in Illinois 18-1. Fontbonne's season-ending overall record was 3-13 with a 2-8 Midwest Lacrosse Conference record.
Benedictine scored 11 unanswered goals before Griffin Brendan Friss found the back of the net. Senior Tommy Carroll saved 26 Benedictine attempts. The Griffins only had four shots on goal of 13 attempts. Benedictine dominated the faceoffs, allowing them to shoot 87 times with 45 shots on goal.
Carroll recorded 298 saves on the season, the highest in the MLC. Friss finished with 25 goals and 9 assists for 34 points while Joey Mirth's 20 goals and 15 assists totaled a team-high 35 points. Brandon Backus and Nick Athmann each netted 15 goals on the season. Brad Soble contributed defensively with 22 caused turnovers and 60 groundballs.
