Men's lacrosse announces 2017 schedule
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University men's lacrosse is set to be back in action this year. The Griffins will once again play in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference consisted of Aurora, Beloit, Benedictine, Concordia Chicago, Concordia Wisconsin, Cornell College, Monmouth and MSOE. After a year hiatus the Griffins have been selected to finish ninth in the MLC.
"This year is critical for lacrosse at Fontbonne," commented head coach Mark Prey. "We are grateful to be back, we are incredibly happy with our new additions, and our returners are excited to get back to work."
The Griffins get their feet wet by hosting Saint Louis University's club team on Saturday, February 11th at noon. Fontbonne then opens their NCAA schedule in Mississippi at Millsaps College the following weekend. Friday is opening night and will be the only back-to-back gamedays as Fontbonne plays a neutral-site game against the University of Dallas Saturday.
After playing at Carroll College on February 25th, the Griffins open MLC play on the road at Benedictine and 2016 MLC Champion Aurora University. Fontbonne will have their official season opener on Saturday, March 10th when they begin the first of a three-game home stand by hosting Cornell College at 7pm.
Fontbonne's final game of the year will be at home on April 29th against Concordia Chicago. The MLC Tournament begins May 3rd.
The Griffins return juniors Brian Nguyen and Mike Picciolo to guide the team. Fontbonne has garnered several transfers this year including goalie Jack Carroll along with six true freshmen.
