Griffins Unable To Slow Down Raiders Offense

MILWAUKEE, Wis.—The Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team fell on the road against MSOE on Saturday afternoon, 26-4.
The Griffins (1-7; 0-2 MLC), finished with just 11 shots on the day. Matt Rech, Cameron Director, Dalton Teague and Alex Scott all scored for Fontbonne. In net, Nick Fresta was busy as he came away with a career-high 19 saves.
MSOE (6-1; 2-1 MLC), tallied 71 shots, 70 ground balls, won 26 of the 33 face-offs and scored on four of man-advantage opportunities. Oliver Kennedy led the offense with four goals and two assists on eight shots. In goal, Pat Collins got the win after making two saves.
In the first, the Raiders opened the scoring at the 12:12 mark on Jack Fisher's goal. Less than 30.0 seconds later, the team struck again, this time Clay Gustafson netted an unassisted goal.
They tacked on two more goals, however, Fontbonne answered at 7:47. Michael Picciolo won the face-off and got the groundball for the Griffins. The team worked its offense and Director found Rech, who netted his seventh on the year, making it 4-1.
The team wasn't done there as Teague scored an unassisted goal of his own, at the 5:49 mark, cutting the deficit down to 4-2. However, the Raiders scored three unanswered goals the rest of the way, expanding its lead out to 7-2 after one.
In the second stanza, Teague picked up a groundball at 14:13. Then, Scott went on to score his team-high 13th on the season, making it 7-3. The Raiders responded with three more goals but Director scored for the third straight game and his 10th on the season, making it a 10-4 game at 9:55.
It was all MSOE the rest of the way, scoring three times and leading 13-4 at the break. In the second half, the Raiders outscored Fontbonne 13-0, allowing them to go on for the win.
The Griffins look to bounce back in a non-conference outing against Hendrix on March 24th. Action begins at 12 p.m.
