Leach Shines With Three Goals Against (RV) Aurora

The Griffins (1-10; 0-5 MLC), gave everything they had until the very end against the Spartans. Kanaan Leach scored a career-high three goals and is now up to four on the season.
Matt Rech, Michael Picciolo, Cameron Director, Brian Nguyen and Patrick Kennedy added the other goals. In net, Collin Lee and Nick Fresta posted 19 saves.
The Spartans (12-1; 6-0 MLC), were paced by Josh Boyko's six goal and two assist performance. In goal, Tyler Lombardi got the win after making four saves.
In the first, the Spartans posted three goals in three minutes time. However, Fontbonne answered as Alex Scott found Picciolo and he ripped his shot past Lombardi for his 11th on the season at the 12:17 mark.
Aurora went on to outscore Fontbonne 6-2 the rest of the way and headed into the second on top, 9-3. In the second, the Griffins continued to battle and its efforts paid off with three straight goals in just four minutes time.
At 8:09, Trevor Kubiak had the ball on the defensive end and he tossed it all the way up front for Leach. He fended off the goalie, who came way out of the net on defense, and scored an empty-netter. Then, at 6:45, nearly the exact same play happened.
Collin Lee lofted the ball up front and it bounced right to Kennedy. He collected the ball on the hop and scored on the short-side.
Aurora, though headed into the locker room ahead 20-6. From there, they scored 12 more in the third and seven in the fourth for the win.
The Griffins return to action this Saturday against Benedictine in its final home game on the year. Game-time at 2 p.m.
