Scott Reaches 20-Goal Plateau Against Cornell

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa.—The Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team dropped a tough 17-3 road outing against Cornell on Wednesday.
The Griffins (1-13; 0-8 MLC), finished with 25 shots and got two of its goals from Alex Scott, who is now up to a team-high 20 on the season. Michael Picciolo, meanwhile, scored for the fifth straight game. In net, Nick Fresta made 14 saves.
The Rams (7-6; 4-4 MLC), got a six-goal and three assist performance out of A.J. Fisher. In goal, Evan Kedijidian made 10 saves for his seventh win on the season.
It was a back-and-forth outing early up until Conor Hollowell netted his 14th on the season at the 10:43 mark. The Rams scored twice more to take a 3-0 lead after 15:00 minutes of play.
In the second, Cornell extended its lead out to 5-0. However, at the 7:57 mark, the Griffins got on the board as Picciolo scored on an assist from Teague at 7:57, narrowing the deficit down to 5-1.
It was all Cornell the rest of the way, though as they owned a shot advantage of 21-4 and scored five more goals to take a 10-1 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Griffins improved on its shot and ground ball total but the Rams outscored Fontbonne 7-2 the rest of the way for the 14-goal win.
The team looks to close out its season with a win on Saturday against Concordia-Chicago. Action begins at 1 p.m.
