Griffins can't solve Gorloks defense; season comes to an end
The Fontbonne University men's soccer team's season came to an end last night losing to Webster University 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament semi-final. The Griffins concluded their season 12-6-2.
After Fontbonne misfired on a couple early chances, Webster scored the game's lone goal in the 21st minute. Despite falling behind, Fontbonne continued its pressure outshooting Webster 8-4 in the first half. The Griffins couldn't convert and trailed 1-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, Fontbonne remained in possession and continued to be dangerous. Webster nearly missed doubling its lead on counter attacking opportunities as the game remained 1-0. The Griffins held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second half but couldnt push a ball passed the Gorlok netminder.
