The Fontbonne University men's soccer team ended a weekend trip across the midwest region with a 1-0 victory on Sunday against Nebraska Wesleyan University. The Griffins improved to 3-2-1 on the season. The Griffins dropped a heartbreaker on Friday night losing to Simpson College 3-2 in the final five minutes of regulation.
Fontbonne earned its first shutout of the season as they made an early first half goal stand up. Griffin forward Zach Meyer scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 32nd minute of the first half. Fontbonne junior Joe Mirth earned his first shutout of the season in goal for the Griffins.
Fontbonne returns to the pitch Wednesday night as they host Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 7:30 pm.
