Fontbonne University senior Josh Schulz scored two goals and assisted on two more to help lead the Griffins past MacMurray College yesterday 6-3. The Griffins improved to 7-5-1 on the season.
Fontbonne scored three goals in the opening 25 minutes of the game to grab a quick 3-0 lead. MacMurray responded however on scoring on a free kick and corner kick to cut Fontbonne's lead to 3-2 with 10 minutes to go in the half. Schulz scored his second goal of the game with just under 10 minutes to go in the half but MacMurray converted on another corner kick with less than a minute to go in the opening half for a 4-3 halftime score.
In the second half, Fontbonne buckled down the defense end while adding a pair of goals. Seniors Zach Meyer and Justin Williams each scored in the second half while senior Ryan Essenpreiss came in and recorded three saves in goal.
Meyer now leads the team in goals with eight while Williams leads the team in assists with four. Meyer had eight goals and one assist, Schulz had five goals and three assists and Williams has four goals and four assists on the season.
Fontbonne will return to the pitch Saturday when they host Eureka College at 1 pm.
