The Fontbonne University men's soccer team dropped their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) game of the season last night losing a heartbreaker 2-1 in overtime to Westminster College. The Griffins fall to 8-6-1 overall and 3-1 in the SLIAC.
Westminster jumped on the scoreboard first scoring in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Griffins responded in the 32nd minute when senior Justin Williams scored on an assist from senior Josh Schulz.
In the second half, both teams were led scoreless despite several good chances. In overtime, Westminster took the game to Fontbonne was scored with 47 seconds left in the first overtime.
Fontbonne will return to the pitch Saturday when they host defending SLIAC champion Webster University at 1 pm.
