May 19, 2014
Fontbonne University senior forward Zach Meyer was honored as the Red Schoendienst Award winner at a Fontbonne banquet Sunday evening. This award is given annually to the University's top male athlete.
Meyer, who graduated Saturday, led the Griffins and the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) this past year in goals (18) and points (38). He earned SLIAC Player of the Year as well as SLIAC First Team All-Conference honors. Meyer helped lead Fontbonne to a share of the SLIAC regular season championship and 13-7-1 record. He was also named to the NSCAA Honorable Mention All-Central Region Team.
Meyer's 18 goals this past season ties a school record for most goals in a single season.
