St. Louis, Mo. - The Fontbonne University men's soccer team found themselves on the wrong side of a 1-0 score for the second time in a row as they fell to Nebraska Wesleyan this afternoon.
After a 0-0 first half, both teams were fighting for first goal recognition. Both teams were upset with some touchy calls by the head official and tempers were beginning to highten as the scoreless game continued. The Griffins received their only yellow card of the game near the 55 minute mark, with Nebraska Wesleyan finishing the game with two themselves, following the only goal of the game.
The Prairie Wolves found the back of the net as a cluster of players was right in front of the net. a blocked shot resulted in a goal on the rebound by Joe Platten. Goalkeeper Andy Larson had to leave the field for some medical aid, which totaled under a minute.
The Prairie Wolves had two shots on goal while Fontbonne totaled three.
The Griffins search for their first win at Illinois College on Wednesday, September 10 and then travel to Conway, Arkansas next weekend for games against Hendrix and Rhodes.
