Louisville, Ky. - Fontbonne men's soccer fell in their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener this past weekend to Spalding University 5-0. The Griffins, who are 0-7-1 on the year, have now been shutout seven times by their opponents.
Fontbonne was outshot 20-11 with junior Tony Pitaro saving four in net for the Griffins. Six of Fontbonne's shots were on target as Spalding's goalkeeperr saved five to earn the shutout.
Leading Fontbonne's offense was Greg Ferry with three shots and Matt Rapisardo with two. The Griffins did hold the upper-hand with a 7-4 corner kick advantage.
Fontbonne hosts Concordia University of Wisconsin on Tuesday, September 27 at 8 p.m.
