St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne men's soccer dropped their second-to-last regular season game tonight as the Westminster College Blue Jays blanked the Griffins 4-0.
Westminster's only goal of the first half and the game winner came when Kyle Collins ripped a shot that got past junior goalkeeper Tony Pitaro when David Immanuel laid the ball into the back of the net.
Immanuel then began what would be a three goal second half for the Blue Jays. He scored his second goal of the game in the 50th minute.
The Griffins would only get off six shots in the contest as they went on to lose just their second conference game. Fontbonne is now 7-10-1 overall and 6-2 in conference play. The loss to Westminster snapped a six game win streak for the Griffins.
Fontbonne will host Principia College in their final regular reason game this Saturday, October 29th at 3 p.m. Prior to the contest, the Griffins will recognize their six outgoing seniors.
Tonight's outcome slipped Fontbonne to third in the SLIAC standings, where they will face off against Westminster in the opening round of the conference tournament. This time the battle will take play in Fulton, Mo. on Westminster's campus on Thursday, November 3rd.
