Men's Soccer Picked To Finish Sixth In SLIAC Preseason Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2019 Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll and the Griffins come in at No. 6.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2019 Men's Soccer Preseason Poll and the Griffins come in at No. 6.
Webster enters the 2019 season picked to finish first with 72 points and five first-place votes. Spalding follows in second with 68 and two first-place votes, while the reigning SLIAC Champion, Greenville University, slides in at No. 3 with 66 points and two first-place votes.
Iowa Wesleyan follows at No. 4 with 54 points and one first-place vote, while Principia enters at No. 5 just ahead of the Griffins at 51 points.
The Griffins are coming off a 2018 campaign where they finished 9-9 overall and 6-3 in SLIAC play. The team will be looking to replace five of its six All-Conference players from a season ago.
Back for his senior stint, however, is Andres Castro, where he finished with a career-high four goals and three assists for 11 points. In net, Eric Volk is back for his senior campaign after appearing in seven games, totaling 39 saves, and a 1.91 goals against average.
Fontbonne gets its season underway on August 30th when they'll take on Concordia Wisconsin on the road. Kick-off at 1 p.m.
