How It Happened
In the first half, it was a scoreless game up until the 21st minute. On a corner kick for the Falcons, the loose ball was in the box and a Falcons player was fouled which gave them a penalty kick opportunity
Jackson Dryden took advantage as he beat Griffins net-minder Eric Volk to give them a 1-0 lead. In the 36th minute, the Falcons struck again. Own Hanisko lifted a pass up for Cristian Tyrpak in the box, he settled the ball down, and scored into the left corner of the net to make it a 2-0 outing at the break.
In the second half, Ivan Cuellar scored just one minute and 21 seconds in from the top of the box to extend it out to 3-0. However, the Griffins answered right back in the 48th minute with Bryan Carroll finding newcomer Mike Massay and he scored his first with Fontbonne to trim the deficit down to 3-1.
Massay had another chance for goal inside the box in the 55th minute, though his shot attempt he lifted went just over the bar.
The Griffins continued its offensive push late as the clock continued to tick away, but the Falcons added one last goal to secure the three-goal win.
