How It Happened
In the first half, the Griffins applied the offensive pressure early with MacMurray goalie Brantley Estes having to come away with two quick saves. However, in the sixth minute, Brandon Baumgartner got the ball in the box and beat Estes to the far post to net his first on the season.
MacMurray owned a 4-3 shot advantage the rest of the way, though Eric Volk kept the lead intact at the break making three saves.
In the second half, the Griffins extended its lead out to 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Charles Gibbs had the ball just outside the box and lifted his shot attempt over Estes. The goal was Gibbs first since returning from injury this year.
Then, the team put the game away in the 64th minute with Mike Massay scoring his team-high fifth on the year. With the defense holding MacMurray to just one shot in the second half that three goal lead was more than enough to go on for the shutout win.
