How It Happened
In the first half, the Gorloks offense pressured Fontbonne netminder Ethan Cowell but he came way with saves in the ninth and 19th minute to keep it a scoreless contest.
It remained a 0-0 tie up until the 36:18 mark when Noah Abraham pushed the ball forward for Aamahn Murvin. His initial shot was saved by Cowell but the deflection went off Murvin and into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead at the break.
Fontbonne had a couple of great chances in the second half with a foul called in Webster in the 50th minute. Jared Lyeki stepped into his shot on the free kick and Matt Coffey had to make a diving save to his right and keep Fontbonne off the board.
The Griffins had another chance off a free kick in the 67th minute but Trent Calvert's shot was tipped over the bar by Coffey. Despite its offensive push in the final minutes, the Gorloks fended off Fontbonne for the 1-0 win.
