GREENVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men's soccer team tried to erase a three goal deficit, but its efforts fell short in a 3-2 loss against Greenville.
The Panthers got the scoring started in the 12th minute when Jared McPeek beat Dominic Haggard to the short side for the 1-0 lead.
Greenville extended its advantage out to 2-0 in the 16th minute when Napoleon Urquidi got the loose ball off a throw in and scored.
In the 34th minute, the Panthers countered the other way with Rafael Navas dribbling up the left side and finding Urquidi in the box who scored his second on the day.
Prior to the half ending, though the Griffins got on the board when Fontbonne worked quickly on a corner kick and Alex Wigge scored from just outside the box making it a 3-1 game.
In the second half, the Griffins trimmed the deficit down to 3-2 when Joe Noah headed it over to Max Sarich and he headed it in past Hiram Cruz. That'd be the final attempt for the Griffins as the fell by one to the Panthers.
