Men's Tennis wins first match of the season
Jacksonville, Ill. - Fontbonne University men's tennis layed claim to their first win of the season with a 7-2 victory over Illinois College.
Sending just five players to Jacksonville, Illinois College's two points came from Fontbonne defaults on the sixth singles slot and final doubles match.
In doubles, Blake Wisniewski and Khoa Trieu teamed up for the win (8-4) as did Andrew Overmyer and Stephen Lendy (8-1).
Wisniewski won his fourth singles match of the year 6-3, 6-3. Trieu won his first singles match. The freshman took down Illinois College's No. 2 player 6-3, 6-2. S. Lendy fought hard for his win (7-5, 6-2) while Andrew Overmyer also debuted his first win of the year (6-2, 6-4). Jacob Lendy made his first collegiate tennis debut with straight 6-0, 6-0 wins.
The Griffins will travel to Fulton, Mo. for a conference matchup against Westminster College Sunday at 2 p.m.
