Griffins Swept In Season Opener Against Greenville
ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The Fontbonne University men’s team hit the courts for the first time this spring against Greenville, though the Panthers spoiled the Griffins opener with a 9-0 victory.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The Fontbonne University men's team hit the courts for the first time this spring against Greenville, though the Panthers spoiled the Griffins opener with a 9-0 victory.
At the No. 1 slot in doubles play, Sebastian Culton and Blake Wisniewski gave Greenville's Nate Wieland and Justin Tilford a run, however, the Panthers came away with the 8-3 win. Greenville (12-0), went on to win No. 2 doubles, 8-1, along with an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 spot.
In singles action, it was a battle between Wieland and Culton once more. Wieland eventually won the first set 6-4 and pulled away in the second, 6-1. The Panthers went on to sweep the Griffins the rest of the way, winning the match, 9-0.
