Men's Tennis Closes Out SLIAC Tournament In Fifth Place

ST. LOUIS, Mo.— The Fontbonne University men’s tennis team finished out its 2019 campaign in fifth place at the SLIAC Tournament.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.— The Fontbonne University men's tennis team finished out its 2019 campaign in fifth place at the SLIAC Tournament.

Match One

Score: Westminster 5, Fontbonne 1

Location: Dwight Davis

Records: Westminster 1-8, Fontbonne 1-12

How It Happened

In doubles action, the Griffins got on the board as the duo of Zach Stevens and Jaxon Ziemann picked up an impressive 8-2 win at the No. 2 slot. The team of Sebastian Culton and Anh Nguyen put up a valiant effort at No. 1, but Phillip and Joshua Udinyiwe came away with the 8-5 win.

In singles play, Joshua Udinyiwe earned the 6-4, 6-3 win over Zach Stevens at No. 2. From there, at No. 4 singles, Bryce Loney fended off Nguyen for the 6-4, 6-2 win. Mike Rois won by default at the No. 6 slot for the Blue Jays.
