Greensboro, Pa. - The Fontbonne University men's volleyball team opened up their 12-game road trip this weekend in Pennsylvania at Thiel College. The Griffins suffered two losses to open the weekend.
Fontbonne lost to No. 8-ranked Nazareth University in three sets (14-25, 21-25 and 17-25). Fontbonne's Aaron Graue recorded 12 kills in the loss as the Griffins were shaking on the attacking line, averaging just .080. Jacob Lendy served up 19 assists as did Jake Kemp from Nazareth. Jimmy Stika's five digs tied for the game-high.
In their second matchup, the Griffins got the better end of Thiel in the first set, winning 29-27 but lost 19-25, 18-25 and 20-25. This time Peter Hibbeler recorded 12 kills, tieing the game-high with two Thiel players. Graue tallied 11 kills on a total of 55 tries. Hibbeler's .458 hitting percentage was the best of both teams. Lendy tallied 34 assists across the four-set match and 11 digs. Jimmy Stika's 27 digs was a game-high while Graue contributed with 14 of his own.
Tomorrow the Griffins take on Penn St.-Altoona and Emira College at Thiel College once again.
