Peter Hibbeler earns CoSIDA Men's At-Large Academic All-District honors
The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large teams were recently announced. Teams represented in the men's at-large category include volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, golf, swimming, ice hockey, wrestling, rife, fencing, water polo and gymnastics. Teams were selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizing student-athletes for both their academic and athletic performances. The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight districts that recognize the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III.
Fontbonne has the only men's volleyball player representing NCAA Div. III District Five (AL, Ar, FL, GA, MO, MS, NC, PR, SC, TN, VA). In all, just 13 men's volleyball players garnished All-District honors, with six of those from the NCAA Division III category. Fontbonne is the only Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) school represented with an honoree.
Junior Peter Hibbeler garnishes a 3.87 GPA and is a Biology major and Chemistry minor. Hibbeler finished the 2015 season second among NCAA Division III players, averaging 1.28 blocks per set. He shattered Fontbonne's solo blocks and total blocks records, both in a sinlge season and over a career. The two-year Griffin has 183 career blocks, 38 solo blocks this season and 77 block assists for his final year. All three are top performances for our men's volleyball team since its 2007 inception.
Capital One Academic All-District award winners will be considered for the Capital One Academic All-America teams, voted on by the Academic All-America committee and CoSIDA Board of Directors.
