Griffins ready for conference play after five straight wins
St. Louis, Mo. - After starting the year 1-1, the Fontbonne men's volleyball team has won five straight games including two tonight against Rust College. The Griffins will take a week off to prepare for their Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League opener at home next weekend.
Currently leading the Griffins offensively at the net is Brendon Schwartze with 54 kills and Tony Pitaro with a .410 hitting percentage. Setting up the attack is sophomore Jacob Lendy, who has 179 assists. Leading the Griffins in blocking is middle blocker Emir Hadzisalihovic with 11 total blocks including three solo blocks. Lendy leads the team with 26 service aces and 43 digs while senior libero Jimmy Stika is close behind tallying 41 digs.
Fontbonne will host the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday at 7 p.m. followed by NCAA powerhouse Carthage College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
