Griffins sweep MCVL weekend; earn most wins in a season
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne men's volleyball concluded their two-MCVL match weekend with a 25-12, 25-10 and 25-18 sweep of Olivet College this afternoon. The win is Fontbonne's ninth, the most wins in a season for the program. The Griffins are now 9-6 overall and 2-5 in conference.
Leading the charge today were three Affton High School alums. Brendon Schwartze led Fontbonne with 10 kills, Jimmy Stika secured nine digs and Emir Hadzisalihovic totaled five block assists. Setter Jacob Lendy assisted 28 times with four blocks assists and seven digs. Twin brother Stephen Lendy also had a good afternoon with eight kills, six digs and three service aces. Schwartze and S. Lendy both hit .500.
Fontbonne is at home again next weekend for their final three games of the season. The Griffins host Marian on Saturday followed by their last MCVL home game at 2 p.m. Saturday against Lakeland College. The Griffins will honor outgoing senior Jimmy Stika before their 5 p.m. matchup against Illinois Instititute of Technology.
