Men's Volleyball Sweeps Season Series In Style Against Olivet
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men’s volleyball team cruised to its third consecutive win and seventh overall after a straight set sweep (25-12, 25-13, 25-17) win over Olivet.

The Griffins (7-2; 2-0 MCVL), posted 43 kills and just 11 errors to tie its season-high in hitting percentage (.400). The team also compiled 39 assists, seven service aces and 34 digs in the victory.
Individually, Mark Klusman was unstoppable with a match-high 15 kills and .682 hitting percentage. Stephen Lendy contributed 11 kills, while Brendon Schwartze added seven and a .417 hitting percentage.
Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell handed out 24 assists, while Zach Rothstein was busy on the defensive side of the net with 18 digs.
Olivet (4-4; 0-2 MCVL), never found a rhythm against the Griffins defense finishing with 22 kills and a .108 hitting percentage. Trent Robinson led the Comets with seven kills, while setter Aaron Giorgi added 22 assists. Brock Pringle, meanwhile, ended with a team-high eight digs.
In the first set, the Griffins took a 10-2 lead on a block assist from Emir Hadzisalihovic and Schwartze. After a Comets timeout, Fontbonne dominated the rest of the way and went on for the 25-12 win.
The Griffins totaled a match-high 16 kills and a .482 hitting percentage in the first set, while Olivet had five kills and six errors for a negative -.037 hitting percentage.
It was more of the same story in the second set as consecutive kills from Klusman gave Fontbonne a 6-0 lead. They stretched it out to 20-10 on Schwartze's kill and Braden Woolsey finished the set off with a kill of his own to give them a 25-13 victory.
In the third, it was back-and-forth play early but Fontbonne led 10-6 on Stephen Lendy's kill. Later, a block assist from Girogi and Trent Robinson narrowed the Comets deficit down to 16-14. However, the Griffins responded with a 7-0 run, allowing them to go on for the 25-17 set and match win.
The team returns to action on Tuesday night when they'll host Greenville. First-serve goes up at 7 p.m.
